In this article, we present an extension of the formulation recently developed by the authors to the structural dynamics setting. Inspired by a structure-preserving family of variational integrators, our new formulation relies on a discrete balance equation that establishes the dynamic equilibrium. From this point of departure, we first derive an “exact” discrete-continuous nonlinear optimization problem that works directly with data sets. We then develop this formulation further into an “approximate” nonlinear optimization problem that relies on a general constitutive model. This underlying model can be identified from a data set in an offline phase. To showcase the advantages of our framework, we specialize our methodology to the case of a geometrically exact beam formulation that makes use of all elements of our approach. We investigate three numerical examples of increasing difficulty that demonstrate the excellent computational behavior of the proposed framework and motivate future research in this direction. 相似文献

The photochemical prevulcanization of natural rubber (NR) latex via the thiol‐ene reaction is a new approach aiming at the replacement of noxious processing agents used in conventional sulfur vulcanization processes (e.g., accelerators) together with cost saving options. The crosslinking reaction involves the excitation of a selected photoinitiator with ultraviolet (UV) light which is followed by the formation of thioether links due to the thiol‐ene addition reaction. The photochemical process is carried out in a falling film photoreactor which provides not only a continuous prevulcanization process but also exhibits a technology which is already commercially well established. The main advantage of the falling film process lies in the short prevulcanization time and the mild reaction temperature. Following the idea of the manufacture of low‐allergenic surgical gloves made from NR latex without compromising on the glove quality by means of physical performance, crucial process parameters of the falling film process have been determined and characterized in this study. Surgical gloves were made from the photocured NR latex which was prevulcanized using selected process conditions. The physical properties including tensile strength, elongation, modulus, and crosslink density were examined together with the aging stability and the stability against high‐energy radiation (sterilization with gamma rays). It was found that the UV light intensity, the number of illumination cycles, the choice of photoinitiator, and the thiol crosslinker play an important part in the glove quality. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We demonstrate that the integrated sub-wavelength aperture probe designed for THz near-field scanning probe microscopy can be used to map surface plasmon waves at THz frequencies. Observed near-field images of metallic patterns reveal surface plasmon waves superimposed over THz transmission images. We discuss the coupling mechanism for the surface waves and arrive to an important conclusion that the detected surface wave images represent the spatial derivative of the surface plasmon electric field. The relationship between the electric field and the measured signal is confirmed experimentally by mapping surface waves in bow-tie antennas. This study explains previously observed effects in THz near-field microscopy and provides a framework for analysis of near-field images. 相似文献

The limited clinical efficacy of many cancer therapeutics has initiated intense research efforts toward the discovery of novel chemical entities in this field. In this study, 31 hit candidates were selected from nearly 800 000 database compounds in a ligand‐based virtual screening campaign. In turn, three of these hits were found to have (sub)micromolar potencies in proliferation assays with the Jurkat acute lymphatic leukemic cell line. In this assay, the three hits were found to exhibit higher potency than clinically tested cell‐death inducers (GDC‐0152, AT‐406, and birinapant). Importantly, antiproliferative activity toward non‐cancer peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) was found to be marginal. Further biological characterization demonstrated the cell‐death‐inducing properties of these compounds. Biological testing of hit congeners excluded a nonspecific, toxic effect of the novel structures. Altogether, these findings may have profound relevance for the development of clinical candidates in tumor therapy. 相似文献

Li/MgO is one of the most frequently investigated catalysts for the oxidative coupling of methane. Besides catalytic testing, it is also a suitable system to perform surface science experiments and quantum chemical calculations, which is not possible for many other active catalysts. However, the real structure of Li/MgO, the nature of the active center and the structure - activity relationship remain unclear, despite all the research that has been done.
